## 31/08/2026. Shadow Cabinet Reshuffle. A Shadow Cabinet reshuffle is underway. Early changes include Dame Priti Patel DBE MP and Sir Mel Stride leaving their posts and being replaced by Andrew Griffith MP (Shadow Chancellor) and Tom Tugendhat MBE MP (Shadow Foreign Secretary). Also with Claire Coutinho MP to become Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade. ## 29/08/2026. Rt Hon. Sir James Cleverly Resigns from the Shadow Cabinet. He resigned from the Shadow Cabinet to run for London Mayor. ## 14/08/2026. Nigel Farage MP wins the Clacton By-election. He won the by-election with a majority of 12,784 votes, securing 63.34% of the vote. Count Binface finished second with 26.93%. A number of UK political parties did not contest the election. ## 01/08/2026. Bev Taylor (Labour) Has been elected Greater Manchester Metropolitan Mayor. She defeated Reform UK's candidate Sian Astley by 309,525 to 157,178 votes after second preference votes were added. Prior to her election she was Leader of Manchester City Council. ## 27/07/2026.
